Balanced Eggs

For some reason I have been in a crafty/blogging mood lately. Also, for some reason, I have to balance my eggs in the carton. It bothers me if they're all on one side.

This is a bulletin board thing that I made for Skylee's hair bows

These are stroller bags that I made out of plastic bags from WinCo, of course. Like my cupcakes, they didn't turn out like they did in the example. Oh well, it was a fun and free project and now I have a place to put my keys/cell phone/snacks etc.

What the what?!!!

Thanks Liz Lemon.

Here is my crazy story. If you are sensitive or impressionable, please stop reading.

I've been wanting a serger (a special kind of sewing machine) for a long time. They're pretty expensive. Even used on craigslist it's rare to find one for less than $200. Last Saturday I was perusing the craigslist ads and found that a woman near my home was selling a serger at her yard sale for an undisclosed amount. I decided to check it out. When I got there she was pretty much done with the yard sale and was closing up shop. I asked her if she still had the serger. She did, and she said she would sell it to me with all of her other sewing items (3 rubbermaid bins full of stuff) for only $50!! I was so excited. I got it all home, Cory unloaded it into the guest room, and I started going through the bins.
A side note: there was A LOT of ugly fabric that I ended up selling on craigslist for $15 so I ended up only paying $35 for everything! Sweet!
So as I was going through one of the bins, I saw something that I didn't recognize as a sewing-type item. I pulled it out to see what it was and realized that I was holding a large, pink, rubber male body part. SICK!! I chucked it back in the box and called Cory screaming and laughing and blushing and wanting to puke after actually touching the thing. After I calmed down, I continued looking through the bin, much more cautiously, and found a shoebox full of other sex toys. I'll spare you pictures but I couldn't get over the irony of the sticker on the shoebox. It was a big pink circle and in white letters it said "DIY". I'm sure the lady thought that her kids (or husband?) would never find that stuff hidden in her sewing bins but apparently she hid them a little too well.
What are the odds?

Nightly News

Here is a little catchup before I tell you my crazy story. I'm pulling a nightly news on you. "Stay tuned for more details..."

I saw these cupcakes in a magazine, and thought it would be fun to make them. Don't know why the picture is sideways. Anyway. They never turn out like they do in the magazine. But still fun!

I've been doing some crafty projects lately. This is one that is still in process, but here are my first two (of four) neck tie throw pillows. I love neck ties. They're so fun in an ugly kind of way.

It was Cory's friend Sean's birthday this month. They decided to have a cereal eating contest. Here are the before, during, and after pictures. Sean won. Happy Birthday to him!

I hate Aristocats

The Disney Movie. I seriously can't stand it and Phoenix LOVES it. It's annoying how they live in France so they have these really irritating accents. Not that French people have irritating accents, but in the movie, they do. Also, there are 2 boy kittens and a girl kitten and the girl kitten is always whining and tattling and she is the one that falls of the truck and has to be saved and then she falls off the bridge and has to be saved again. Both times, of course, by Thomas O'Malley the alley cat while her mother just watches and says "Oh no, Marie!"
Sexist, anyone?

Anyway, here are couple of videos of Phoenix doing funny things that we didn't teach him. He cracks me up.

I promise, she really does smile!!

A lot. I just can't seem to capture it on camera.

New Exersaucer!

First time eating rice cereal. Yummy!

Phoenix's new bat and ball he got for Easter. No pictures of the egg hunt, Cory video taped it and I dropped the ball on the still shots. Oops!

We decided to make bird feeders with Phoenix. We brought home some pine cones from AZ that were on the lawn by Pat's apt and I got birdseed for $.39 per pound at Winco. I love the bulk bins there! Phoenix was more interested in throwing the birdseed all over the kitchen, though, so Cory and I ended up making them. So far, it seems like we had more birds in our yard before the bird feeders! Hopefully they get the idea soon.
